Finally Oslo has a food court! The food court (‘Mathallen‘) opened October 2nd this in Vulkan, Grünerløkka. I visited eight days later; two days before the official opening. The place was packed. There was still tuning and unpacking going on; and the lights went off every 5th minute. The food stalls were sold-out of a lot of dishes, but I think this is because it’s not officially open yet. With 27 stores there’s enough food to buy, and there were several restaurants serving different cuisines that looked interesting and tempting to dine at.
The choice fell on the German restaurant / court Delikatysk, as I wanted to try a cuisine I am not too familiar with.
With only five dishes you need to look at the board ahead of getting seated.
Käsespätzle is a larger type of pasta made of a lot of eggs and cheese. Turns out German pasta tastes like pancake! The only thing I was missing was sugar-coating + blueberries. Still it was lightweight and that suited me good, and will suit me even better when I come here (Mathallen, and maybe even Delikatysk again;because the dish was exciting and new to me!) next time and have a meal in the midst of doing some Christmas-foodie-shopping. A different and good meal, could have been better with a better side-salad than just the average tomato and a lettuce.
You can also enjoy great German weissbier; Tucher; makes the meal.
Busy, but that’s what you would expect.
