Tapas @ Salsa, And Still Looking For a Tapas Fave in Oslo

I’m sorry for the non-delicate-platter photo from tapas restaurant Salsa in Oslo, but that’s what it looked like.

1st fault – I was out there with colleagues and wasn’t able to choose my own dishes. I don’t support the trend that when you order tapas everyone is able to find something they like. It’s not that expensive, so why not just order the thing you like, and let the others order what they like?!

The best part of this whole experience was the setting itself; a rustic restaurant in a torch lit basement.

Bread with aioli was…

…So good I should have had that for dinner!

Main dish

tapas restaurant salsa oslo

Salsa Grande 7

Greek salad (give me feta and I’m satisfied, but remove the smashed tomatoes please)!
The chicken was OK, it was what it was and tasted nothing out of the ordinary.
Meatballs also just OK. I want spice and Salsa didn’t give it to me.
Cheese platter better than expected. Not a big cheese-person.
Mushrooms in bacon; I love bacon, but I don’t like mushrooms.
Scampi – I don’t eat fish.
The biggest disappointment were the potatoes in aioli. Cold and unsatisfying. I’m a much bigger fan of Spanish omelette (served warm).

…So now you see my problem with reviewing the menu. This was recommended by a food-loving-colleague so I am willing to think this place is better than I thought it was. And I didn’t think it was all that.
